The principles, membership provisions and standards of conduct that guide Jinshinkai Australia.

Rules

Article 1 · Name

The name of this Association is Jinshinkai Australia. The name of the dōjō is Jinshinkan Australia.

Article 2 · Headquarters

The headquarters of this Association is located at the location of Jinshinkan Australia.

Article 3 · Purpose

The purpose of this Association is to contribute to society by promoting the healthy development of people and improving the health and character of its Members through martial arts. Jinshinkai Australia is a Non-Profit Organisation.

Article 4 · Activities

In order to achieve the purpose set forth in the preceding article, this Association will carry out the following activities.

  1. Support and assistance for Japanese martial arts promotion (i.e. jōdō and iaidō).
  2. Holding training sessions, etc.
  3. Training of instructors.
  4. Supporting members’ welfare.
  5. Other activities necessary to achieve the Purpose of the Association.

Article 5 · Members

Regular Member: A person who agrees with the Purpose, Rules, Bylaws, Values, and Regulations of the Association and joins (refer to Jinshinkai Australia - Values and Regulations ). Special Members: Appointed leaders from dōjō other than Jinshinkan Australia , and those who aspire to become leaders, and are recommended by the Chairman.

The following officers will be appointed in this Association.

Article 7 · Accounting

The expenses required to carry out the activities of this Association are based on Admission Fees, Membership Fees, and other income. Collected fees are to be used towards covering the cost of the regular hall hire, additional expenses due to special training, and partial covering of the expenses due to visits of instructors, and the purchase of necessary equipment.

Article 8 · Miscellaneous

The detailed provisions necessary for the enforcement of these Rules shall be determined separately.

Regular Members

Those wishing to join the Association must submit the application form and pay the Jinshinkai Joining Fee.

Members of the Association must pay a Monthly Membership Fee. Monthly Membership Fees are used for the activities stipulated in Article 4 of the Jinshinkai Rules and are not tuition fees. Monthly Membership Fees may be reduced or waived based on the contribution to Jinshinkai Australia and/or the Member’s personal situation at the Chairman’s sole discretion.

Special Members

Special Members' Membership Fees can be collected when it becomes necessary to carry out business.

Dōjō use

Members of the Association can participate in various events and training at the dojo according to the schedule and information provided to the Members. However, depending on the event or training content, participation may be restricted. At the dōjō, we must practice efficiently while yielding to each other.

Recess

If the Member is unable to carry out activities for a long period due to circumstances, they need to notify the Chairman. Monthly Membership Fees will not be collected during the recess period.

Resignation

When resigning from the Association, the Member must notify the Chairman. When cancelling the Membership, the Member must pay their Monthly Membership Fee in full for the month in question. If the Member has paid their Monthly Membership Fees in advance, these will be returned at the time of resignation.

Expulsion

Any person who violates the Purpose, Rules, Bylaws, Values, or Regulations (refer to Jinshinkai Australia - Values and Regulations ) of this Association or who fails to pay Monthly Membership Fees for more than one year without any reason will be expelled. Personal belongings left behind by those who have withdrawn or been expelled will be disposed of without contacting them.

Special Membership Rules

Special Members can participate in Special Training. Special Members must pay a Special Training Fee each time they participate in Special Training. Special Members can request Individual Lessons. Fees for Individual Lessons will be determined separately. There is no Jinshinkai Joining Fee for Special Members.

Values

Jinshinkai Australia and its members share the Values of its parental Federations: All Japan Kendō Federation , Australian Kendō Renmei , and New South Wales Kendō Association . These Values are summarised below using the concept of the meaning of the seven hakama folds.

Regulations

  1. I will remember and do my best to abide by and cultivate the Values stated above.
  2. I will remember, respect, and follow the Regulations, Rules, and Bylaws (refer to Jinshinkai Australia - Rules and Jinshinkai Australia - Bylaws ).
  3. I will show respect to the past generations, seniors, and juniors in the dōjō by bowing upon entering the dōjō.
  4. I will treat others at the dōjō and during events with respect, regardless of their rank, position, experience, and skills.
  5. I will treat the dōjō with respect by keeping it clean and tidy.
  6. I will wear a clean and neat uniform to every practice session, as per parental Federations’ regulations.
  7. I will wear nafuda as an integral part of my uniform.
  8. I will remove shoes and socks upon entering the dōjō.
  9. I will remove all the jewellery and accessories (e.g., watch) before the practice session to avoid injury.
  10. I will address all the 5th dan and above instructors and all the guest instructors as sensei .
  11. I will not handle any new weapon in the dōjō without permission from the instructor.
  12. I will not bring and/or use a shinken (sharp sword) without permission from the Chairman.
  13. I will not train with any uncovered open wounds, grazes, and/or cuts. Should I receive any injury while training, I will stop immediately, inform the instructor, follow careful blood spillage guidelines, receive first aid, and/or obtain medical attention if necessary.
  14. I will not use foul language in the dōjō.
  15. I will not talk during warm-up, drills, and/or explanations.
  16. I realise that racism, sexism, and any other kind of prejudiced behaviour and/or language are against the fundamental values of Jinshinkai Australia and will not be tolerated by the Association.
  17. I realise that members of Jinshinkai Australia are not permitted to annoy, harass, and/or impose their religious and/or political beliefs on other members at any time.
  18. I realise that non-members are not permitted to use the dōjō without permission from the instructor.
  19. I will do my best to represent Jinshinkai Australia and parental Federations with dignity.
  20. I will do my best not to commit any act that could have an adverse effect on the dignity and/or the reputation of Jinshinkai Australia , its instructors, and/or parental Federations.
  21. I will never aggressively use my martial arts knowledge outside of the dōjō or during the events.
  22. I will promptly inform the Chairman of any changes to my details, such as address, phone number, etc.
  23. I will promptly inform the Chairman of any long-term absence due to sickness, work situation, etc.
  24. Upon joining Jinshinkai Australia , I agree to be bound by the Jinshinkai Australia - Values and Regulations (this document), Jinshinkai Australia - Rules , Jinshinkai Australia - Bylaws , and the terms and conditions stated in these documents; I understand that Jinshinkai Australia reserves the right to expel members who fail to obey these documents.
